Pushing the date of the mods out to 40 years from now prevents patching from disabling mods. Everything's cool right now but if a patch comes out on 1-15-13, your mod will no longer work because the DATA files have been redated to 1-15-13, making them overwrite your mod. This is because even if the date of your DATA files is currently before the date of your mods, anytime an official patch comes through, your DATA files will be redated to that date.įor example - Your DATA files are currently dated at 12-15-12 and your mod is dated at 12-31-12. Most modders have figured that out and started pushing their "Date modified" out to 2040 or 2099. This is because when the game starts, it loads the mod first, then the default data gets loaded over it. If the "Date modified" of the DATA files is later than the "Date modified" of the mod you've installed, your mod will not take effect in game. These are the default assets that the game uses. You'll notice that before you do any modding at all, there's already a DATA.PAK and a file in your PAKS folder. The load order is determined by the "Date modified" on the files. There is one catch, though, and this is the load order. PAK.MAN files into the PAKS folder and the mod is now installed. Now, find the "PAKS" folder inside your Torchlight 2 directory. After you've downloaded a mod or two, extract them and you should see two files by the same name but with different file extensions.

There are mods hosted on the Runic Games Fansite and there's also a huge list posted on the Ultimate Modlist Thread.
